remembrance of projects past... and lace!

Hi all: I'm Kristina from Toronto. Very glad to be part of this KAL.

I'm trying two new things this August:

(a) lace knitting (which I've never done before). My first project will be the Montego Bay Scarf from IK Summer 2007 edition. I have also bought yarn for the Oriel lace blouse in the same mag.

(b) a stashbuster log cabin (have tried one once before with some very bad yarn from the stash and gave up in disgust). This one will incorporate swatches from past projects as the centre panel for each square/rectangle, then at some point I'll sew it all together.

Wish me luck! Great to see the other projects in process here...

Lookin' good. I love the idea of fitting in old swatches.

Thanks, all: having now just read the rules (oops!) I should mention that the log cabin will obviously not be my August project! More like December ... maybe!

Welcome, Kristina!

I was looking through that issue of IK earlier today, the Montego Bay Scarf is very lovely. It'll make an excellent project.

Your log cabin squares are looking great. Wonderful colour choices so far. I can't wait to see it completed!

What a great idea you have about that log cabin! I've never seen such a cool way to actually use swatches!

Love the cables. :-)
Good choice for your August project, by the way, because that scarf goes fast, but be aware that braiding the fringe is the part that takes forever. Set aside a few days for that part.

Thanks, Tina and Stitchay!

So I guess no one noticed the boo-boo in the big cable ;-) (which is why its home is currently within the blanket as opposed to within DHs Samus cardigan!

And - SWs point about the fringe raises a query: does it count as a FO if I decide not to put the fringe in (don't usually like fringe, and my one-person jury is undecided on the fringe for this scarf...
